Patti Smith reveals her thoughts on shoutout from Taylor Swift in ‘TTPD’Patti Smith just responded to Taylor Swift’s shout out to her in the latest album, The Tortured Poets Department.The 77-year-old singer took to her official Instagram account during the weekend and shared two monochromatic pictures of herself reading a book by the Welsh poet and writer, Dylan Thomas.Smith’s post is a nod to Swift’s lyrics in the song, The Tortured Poets Department, where the songstress sings, “I laughed in your face and said, ‘You’re not Dylan Thomas / I’m not Patti Smith / This ain’t the Chelsea Hotel / We’re modern idiots.’”The American poet, who has written the memoir titled, Just Kids, reminiscing the time when she lived in Chelsea Hotel with photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, said she was touched by it.“This is saying I was moved to be mentioned in the company of the great Welsh poet Dylan Thomas. Thank you, Taylor,” the Because the Night singer’s caption read.Additionally, this is not the first time Swift has received praise from the influential singer. In a 2019 interview with The New York Times, Smith said, “She’s a pop star who’s under tremendous scrutiny all the time, and one can’t imagine what that’s like.”
