JAMESTOWN — The Jamestown High School Activities Department would like to announce the hiring of Luke Anderson as the new head boys basketball coach.
Anderson is no stranger to this position as he returns to the bench after a previous three-year stint as head coach of the Blue Jays from 2014 to 2017. Anderson led the Jays back to a state tournament berth in his second year after a 14-year absence for the program from the tournament. Anderson is currently serving in his seventh year as the principal at Gussner Elementary for Jamestown Public Schools.Jim Roaldson, JHS Activities Director, stated: “Luke brings a lot of experience to the position with an understanding of what it takes to be successful in the highly competitive WDA Conference. We are excited to see what he can do with the nucleus of players that are returning from last year’s team.”
Jake Stilwell to assume boys hockey position
The Jamestown High School Activities Department would also like to announce the naming of Jake Stilwell as the next head coach of Blue Jay boys hockey.Stilwell currently teaches at Jamestown Middle School and had been an assistant coach this past season with the Blue Jays. A 2013 Jamestown High School graduate and an alumni of Concordia College, Moorhead Minn., Stillwell had also previously taught at Bakkan Elementary and coached at Williston High School.Jim Roaldson stated in a press release: “We are very excited to see where Coach Stilwell can lead this program into the future. He brings a lot of different experiences and influences to the position that will serve him well. A student of the game; he will work towards building individual, as well as team skill while focusing on building a positive team culture in the locker room.”
