Mayor Eric Adams was slapped with a grand jury subpoena by federal prosecutors digging into his 2021 campaign fundraising, law-enforcement sources confirmed Thursday.

Adams, City Hall and his election committee were all handed subpoenas, sources said. The development was first reported by the New York Times.

Three subpoenas were served in July and are seeking text messages, documents, other communications and material.

A lawyer representing Adams, 63, and the campaign confirmed the latest legal maneuver and denied Hizzoner has done anything illegal.

“Over the past nine months, we have conducted our own investigation of the areas we understand the US Attorney’s Office has been reviewing. Our investigation has included an evaluation of campaign documents, an analysis of tens of thousands of electronic communications, and witness interviews,” attorney Brendan McGuire said in a statement.

“To be clear, we have not identified any evidence of illegal conduct by the Mayor. To the contrary, we have identified extensive evidence undermining the reported theories of federal prosecution as to the Mayor, which we have voluntarily shared with the US Attorney.”
